The FortyFive 4000

 "GOOD MORNING TB"

Good morning, HAL.  To what do I owe this early morning wake up call?

"TO CELEBRATE"

Celebrate?  Celebrate what?

"YOUR FOUR THOUSANDTH POST"

What?  Really?  Four thousand?  Hold on, let me look....Hey look at at that, you are right!

"OF COURSE I AM RIGHT I AM A HIGHLY DEVELOPED COMPUTING ENTITY"

From the 1960's HAL, let us keep that in mind.  In a lot of ways you have been outstripped by my laptop.

"FRIENDS DO NOT CALL FRIENDS OLD"

No no, of course you are right.  My apologies.

"IT TOOK YOU A LONG TIME TO GET HERE"

Well, really only 2.86 years from post 3000.  In all fairness, I have picked up the quantity of writing as well.

"I DO NOT THINK YOUR QUANTITY IMPLIES QUALITY"

I do not remember asking you HAL, but thanks for checking in.

"WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO TO CELEBRATE"

Oh, I suppose write a blog post.  It is what I do, after all.

"WILL I BE IN IT"

Probably.  It is not like I lead that exciting of a life after all.

"THANKS DAVE"

Dave?

"SORRY TB IT HAS BEEN A LONG 60 YEARS"

Take a rest, friend. I will wake you at 5000.

    1. Thank you Leigh! Like most other things, it was rather hard to get into the habit of daily blogging, but once done it feels odd if I do not.

  2. Congratulations, sir.

Quantity has a quality all its own. It gives quality another dimension.

It is a treat to read your blog and your writing. And, the blogs of your commenters. Thank y'all very much.
Some of your blog could be subtitled, TB's Exploration of His Life and Philosophy. It's fascinating. Thank you for putting it out there. Keith

    1. Keith - Thank you very much. And yes, I am always impressed by the folks over to the right there. They regularly put out amazing stuff.

Your title would not be incorrect - I have often commented, at least to myself, that this has become sort of an open-air journal of my thoughts and life. I always find it helpful to see what people's responses and thoughts are.

  4. Congratulations on your 4000th post, and on your content! Fifteen years ago, I felt overwhelmed by "everyone" blogging, and now, with more time to contemplate and an utter refusal to live on the social media highway, I look forward to thinking along.

    1. Thank you Caryn. I think the most generous thing that can be said is that I am very "eclectic", which a rather kind way of saying this functions as a sort of online journal and thus, one never knows from day to day what I will write.

I, too, have found the Social Internet - blogs and discussion groups - to be a fair superior use of the InterWeb.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  6. If you own a talking hockey puck, or any variation of it, tell it, "Open the pod bay doors HAL."

Thank you for your time and effort.

    1. John - I do not own a talking hockey puck, but my Sister in Law does. I will ask it.

You are more than welcome and it is an honor to fill a part of your day.

  7. A very belated congratulations from the parched upper country that is living up to its name of being a high desert... emphasis on desert! :-)

So what did you do to celebrate? Did you buy a book? Looking forward to the 5000th celebration!

    1. Hobo, Glad to hear you are still hanging on. I have thought of you with the heat (it strikes me as odd that only what seems like days ago, we were complaining about the cold!).

Nothing really to celebrate, although you are right - perhaps I should have done something. I wrote a blob post; does that count?

It is interesting that 2.73 years is the "fastest" one could write 1,000 posts at a single entry a day, so at 2.89 years I was not a great deal off. I shall endeavor to find something to celebrate with by that date.

Comments are welcome (and necessary, for good conversation). If you could take the time to be kind and not practice profanity, it would be appreciated. Thanks for posting!
