A short note only, friends: this is literally the last thing I do before I crawl off to bed.
I survived the first hike of 2023: 3 days, 16 hours hiking, 38 miles total, elevation gain 12,000 some odd feet. Top distance day: Day 2, 19.85 miles. Pack weight: ~ 25 lbs. I have a great many pictures to sort through (I feel this is all I do on hikes, almost to the exclusion of actually keep up with the hike). Here are few to whet your appetite.
It looks like the superbloom was still in progress.
ReplyDeleteI think it was, Ed. Having never hiked here this early, I had no idea what to expect. Beautiful either way.
DeleteAre these proper hikes, TB? Or just day trips?
ReplyDeleteThis was a proper hike Glen - 16 hours total over three days, 38 miles, two camps.
DeleteGood to hear from you, TB. Looks like a blessed place to hike.
ReplyDeleteYou all be safe and God bless.
Linda, it was beautiful. Also, I am fining muscles I have not used in a bit.
DeleteMother nature is beautiful to behold.
ReplyDeleteIt truly is. And carries on no matter what mankind's shenanigans are.
DeleteNice to see you survived with enough strength to post a few pics TB.......... :)
ReplyDeleteNylon12, this was literally the last thing I did before bed (and even with that, I still managed to publish late).
DeleteNice, I bet you'll sleep better than you have in a while.
ReplyDeleteMichael, I certainly slept less interruptedly - but woke up when I always do, of course, even though I am "on vacation"...
DeleteWow, what a beautiful spot to hike! I love how much hiking you're doing! My biggest hike was in Quebec in the Appalachians. It was a 15 km hike (round trip) and took me almost 8 hours. I was so tired after that but it was exhilarating!!
ReplyDeleteRain, I think the main day of the hike - Saturday - at 19.85 miles/31.94 km - may have been the farthest day I have ever hiked. It took about 9 hours, but was a lot of ascent and some off trail work.
DeleteThe views are stellar. I keep reminding myself that the only way to see them is to go there.
