Defeat And Victory

  1. To heavily paraphrase Kipling..those 2 imposters are just the same. 'if' is the poem. Sort of a work I try to shape my worldview around and thinking about the meme on the way home it might actually be applicable on some of the other posts I read ( the chivalry post and nuanced in others I read ( reading 2 months worth at once makes referencing hard :). I regret not being here more. I enjoy much of your perspectives.

    1. EGB, Tesshu is an interesting fellow, a samuari at the end of the Bakufu period and early Meiji Restoration that remained completely committed to his practice and the historical practices which he lived in. His Style, the Itto Shoden Muto Ryu, was famous for its physicality and its intense training (one of the tests was literally a 3 day experience where the pupil fought all day). In that sense (I think), only desiring to win means that you will eventually lose because you will sacrifice everything and overlook opportunities; those who continue "lose" but come back to the fight will emerge (ultimately) victories.

I appreciate the compliment very much. I greatly benefit from your viewpoint (and pictures of your fabulous garden!).

Comments are welcome (and necessary, for good conversation). If you could take the time to be kind and not practice profanity, it would be appreciated. Thanks for posting!
