Let Your Plans...

Sadly, I find myself finding the myself reaching the point of the program where I do not talk about my plans.  With anyone - except, I suppose, with all of you.

The level of communication - in general - has become such that speaking about almost anything in a public forum is akin to either waiving the proverbial red carpet in front of a bull or lighting up the last cigarette before the firing squad.  Everything is judged now against any number of criteria, some spoken and some unspoken - and, unfortunately, never the sort that I am bound to come out on the winning side of.

One should never stop planning of course - now more than ever, it matters.  The question is, how one plans and who one discusses them with.

Sun Tzu has the answer:  Continue to plan.  Just discuss them with no-one until the time for execution has arrived.

  1. Going underground is no guarantee of safety either because nowadays, 'Silence Is Violence' which justifies the mob getting violent with you to either end you or teach you a lesson. This can only end in bloodshed, and the sooner, the better. The body counts are only going to grow from here.

    1. Glen, to clarify what I was thinking: it is not so much going underground as it is building and planning for a future - even a future such as you suggest - without openly discussing or sharing with almost anyone until the time to act has come.

To be frank with you, I am thinking it is much more like a superhero and his "normal" identity. The more and more I think about it, the smarter that imaginary sort of bifurcated life seems to be.

    2. May I ask what preps you have made that is inciting folks, TB?

I know in my former family, preppers are regarded with suspicion and derision on general principles. The lights will never go out, the internet will always be on, and the press is strives for objectivity, yada yada yada.

None of my business of course, if I'm prying just ignore me. :)

    3. Glen, to be perfectly honest with you almost all of my prepping has been occurring in the background for years. We have slowly been getting there in some areas but there is still a normality bias.

  2. I've come to the conclusion that nobody (except my like-minded blogging friends) really gives a fig for what I think and what I do. But I'm okay with that, since their world is increasingly foreign and non-desirable to me. Of course, I'm not forced to interact with others through the workforce, which you must still endure. That necessitates selective communication, doesn't it?

    1. Leigh, completely agree with the first part - in fact, unless it comes up as an interest or hobby it does not come up at all. As to the rest - yes, selective communication has become the practice of the day. I am actually surprised (perhaps worthy of another post) how little of personal communication enters any day any more.

  3. Earlier this summer I was accused that having no comment on a matter was the same as condoning the actions many were riled up about. I certainly pick and choose whom I talk to things about these days and many of those people I do discuss things with tend to be bloggers.

    1. Ed, you are correct. Silence is the new crime, unless it is something you are not supposed to mention, in which case that is the crime.

Bloggers are the ones I tend to talk with as well. Turns out we can manage to have real conversations. Perhaps the only ones, anymore.

Comments are welcome (and necessary, for good conversation). If you could take the time to be kind and not practice profanity, it would be appreciated. Thanks for posting!
