February Moon

February Moon
pretends that it is the Sun;
stars laugh in silence.

    Brittle snowflakes fall
    geometric collisions
    drifts of tangled stars.

    1. Drifts of tangled stars
      lie easily on the night
      like brittle snowflakes

  2. Last night I think I could have read a book outside it was so bright. Storm blowing in tonight though.

    1. Kev, it seems magnified where I here at my parents' house as there is really no other urban light. It makes a little more sense to me now when I read of doing things by the full moon - with a little care, you easily could do a great deal.

  3. It certainly seemed like the sun shining in my window earlier this week!

    In the cloudless night
The full moon is a beacon,
    Disrupting my sleep

    1. Kelly, it was amazingly bright.

      Confused, I wander
      to the window seeking clouds
      but see only stars.

    Windsong and moonlight
    trees dancing with stark rapture
    tickling the sky.

    1. I often wonder
if the trees can sense moonlight
      as they do sunlight

  5. I'm no poet, but this excited me as this week I noticed the moon shining in through an east facing window one night (or was it morning)? I don't remember. I just know it was gorgeous and I wondered how often it does that, and would I see it again sometime? But it's been cloudy ever since. Did I too easily let the February moon pass. At least I saw it. And took notice of its beauty.

    1. Becki, it certainly seems intensely bright last night, and tonight as well. Certainly it is not something I pay near as much attention to at New Home, as the urban light pollution tends to drown it out.
