A Few Words From...Tecumseh

"When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home."
-Tecumseh, Shawnee Chief (1768-1813)

  1. Ah. Where to find, or make, the right death song.

    Smart man.

Hope you are all well. God bless.

  2. I have no fear of dying as I have had three practice runs already, and when I was rushed into hospital last year I got so fed up all the tubes and stuff that I said to the Universe / God, 'Please take me home', because that is what I regard dying to be...going home...... Anyway, I put the request up to be finished with this life, and the answer coming straight back at me was a very big 'NO'. I was not pleased.
Anyway, I got better and have carried on. It would seem that I have tasks still to do in life, and for that I feel blessed.
For me, my 'death song' would be, 'Yipppeeee! I'm on my way', meanwhile I continue on with enjoying the challenges that living life as a human being gives to me.

  3. Linda, I think Tecumseh's point - certainly his hope -is that we should sing on that day as we have on any other. If we live our life with the constant realization that we will die one day, it will never take us by surprise.

  4. Wow Vera! Three trial runs is nothing to be sneezed at.

Be assured, at least for me, your task is still right on target. I benefit from your writings.

Comments are welcome (and necessary, for good conversation). If you could take the time to be kind and not practice profanity, it would be appreciated. Thanks for posting!
