2024 Turkey: Paşabağlari Örenyeri II (Fairy Chimneys)

More pictures of the Fairy Chimneys:

The feature in the background is the Chapel of Saint Simon.  The chapel is inside the rock.

Sadly, the chapel is currently closed:

These are around the outside:

Looking up at the chapel:

The stairs would be a bit for anyone:

This was at one time a police booth:

Another chapel - in this case, one we could enter:

Can see digging into rock when there are very few trees in evidence. OBTW I read yesterday ( yay NHK) that parts of Japan received over 100 centimeters of snow Monday into Tuesday, one place east of Sapporo had 129 centimeters plop down TB.

    1. Nylon12 - The amount of digging out rock in this region was amazing.

Sadly we missed all the snow there - although the sky spit some last night in New Home 2.0 (or whatever night it was - currently holed up in a Lufthansa business lounge waiting for my last flight).

  3. Unique and fascinating. It doesn't look like anybody lives in the area now.

    1. No one lives there now for sure. Although. I think one could make the argument that at less drveloped sites, people might. At the next location, we are going to I saw some folks living in a similar sort of carve out.

Comments are welcome (and necessary, for good conversation). If you could take the time to be kind and not practice profanity, it would be appreciated. Thanks for posting!
