Yesterday morning when I looked out the back door there was a surprise for me:
And not one, but two:
And then, probably more for their own pleasure than mine, they started fencing:
I think this is first time I have can remember seeing this in such a proximity to the house.
Very nice!
ReplyDeleteERJ, I most often see does and perhaps a single buck. Two bucks alone was new.
DeleteVery cool sir. Great you have a front seat to Mother Nature so close to home. I am jealous !
ReplyDeleteHonestly, it is very cool. And literally right outside the door. Sure beats look out my doors front or back and either seeing my neighbor's back yards or my neighbor's front yards.
DeleteSo nice of them to pose and accommodate your taking pictures. :)
ReplyDeleteIt was awfully thoughtful of them, was it not?
DeleteThey're not too concerned with the proximity of the Puny Humans (to quote the Hulk).....perhaps a welcoming committee TB.
ReplyDeleteNylon12 - They did catch me through the glass and stopped (and my presence is what eventually moved them on).
DeleteA welcoming committee. From your fingertips to God's ears.
Beautyful pictures, not much hunting pressure in your area.
ReplyDeleteThanks Michael.
DeleteI cannot speak to the surrounding area, but neither my Great Aunt and Uncle (who originally owned the land) or my parents ever allowed hunting here (once or twice, my father did let The Young Cowboy take some turkey with bow). At least for 90 acres and the adjoining property of my Aunt and Uncle, it is some kind of sanctuary.
I don't know about out there but here, I think our deer are just about out of season. Fortunately, my neighbor got eight this year from behind his house. Unfortunately, I still saw seven more in my front yard yesterday. They are becoming quite the nuisance here. If they were a bit more easier to get, I think I would stock a freezer full of deer meat.
ReplyDeleteEd, an initial pass suggests the season is long gone here.
DeleteThey are quite the nuisance in parts of New Home as well, made worse by the fact that people actively feed them in certain neighborhoods. Here, we do not encourage them, and there is a 6' fence around garden area with 8' strands of wire above to keep them out of the garden space.
Nature provides entertainment!
ReplyDeleteIt does, Sarge! Depending on the time of the year, I can be entertained by deer, jack rabbits, and the roving bands of turkeys that make their rounds.
DeleteI don't know when mating season is, but perhaps they were showing off for a girl, or practicing for next mating season.
ReplyDeleteStill, God is wonderful. :)
You all be safe and God bless.
Linda, for all I know they could have been siblings just practicing on each other. It definitely was practice.
