Blooming Where You Are Planted

God plants us, like a careful gardener,
in the places of His choosing.
He waters and cares for us in His Garden.

But we, as plants, are often ungrateful.
"I hate this sun" we cry; "I want more shade" -
not realizing the shade will kill us.

"I have this place, this person,
this situation"  we shout,
waving our leafy hands at the Gardener.

Perhaps foolishly we attempt to pull out our own roots,
trying move ourselves away -
but only find that we destroy our ability to be nourished.

Instead of putting our energy into blooming for Him,
we are always putting our energy into why we are not happy.
Is it any wonder that no-one finds the fragrance of Christ in us?
