2017 Winter Garden Update

The weather is getting almost spring-like again.  Time to start thinking about the garden.

Things actually made it through our wacky winter:

 My leeks...actually look like leeks:

And what is this?  Lettuce?  It has never grown at all!

My asparagus is trying:

But faces a local challenge from a varmint (seen against the fence):

Newly refurbished compost bin along with the next area I need to covert:

It is not a great deal to look at, I admit.  But far and away this is the best survival rate I have ever had.

That's pretty good TB, my winter garden failed miserably :( But I have grandiose plans for the summer! :)

That gizmo, friend Glen, is the TB High Density Light Absorbing Varmint Preventer (Patent Pending, also known as a black lawn chair) designed to prevent one Poppy the Puppy from chewing through the lid and rooting through the compost.

Rain, this is best Winter Garden I have ever managed to cobble together. I, too, am very hopeful for spring. I really want to make an effort this year.

I'm losing it, TB. I thought it was some kind of hatch-thing at first glance...

That is us, Glen. Using what is at hand rather than buying something else.

Honestly, this was The Ravishing Mrs. TB's doing...
