2024 Turkey: Paşabağlari Örenyeri I (Fairy Chimneys)

 The Fairy Chimneys of Kapadokya (Paşabağlari Örenyeri) refer to a unique landscape found in Kapaokya.

Originally formed by volcanos, over thousands of years wind, water, time, and even human intervention have served to carve out freestanding monoliths and columns in the landscape

    Curious, aren't they? It looks as though the layers are different kinds of rock, considering how each has worn.

      They are in fact different layers Leigh. The region was very volcanically active once.

    I toured those areas when I was stationed in Ankara back in 1980. Also a couple of the underground cities. Beautiful and absolutely amazing!
