I am far from a good photographer, but when we get a grand lightning storm I can just sit and watch the lightening dancing in the sky among the clouds. It happens not all the often, but far more frequently than it ever did in Old Home.
We haven't had one yet this year but there is a forecast for one later next week. One of the main reasons I built a covered front porch when we did our home addition several years back was so that I could sit out there and watch a thunderstorm roll in while being able to stay dry.
Ed, we are fortunate in that our front porch is sufficiently sheltered to allow us to do the same thing - but more in the Summer. This one was a little cold to be out observing.
When I was a kid, you could see thunderstorms for miles. I remember moving the car into the front yard and laying on the hood to watch a big storm over Crosby county. My girl and I used to talk and watch the silent lightning for hours.
STxAR, one night when we were driving through New Mexico - an all night drive - we were in the pitch black and suddenly a thunderstorm started. It was so dark that when lightning went off, it literally lit up everything in a way I had never seen before.
Ooooh, a couple of those are really cool! Haven't seen any of those yet either. We sometimes see 'winter' one on occasion but nothing yet... rather see them now than late summer. ~hobo
Comments are welcome (and necessary, for good conversation). If you could take the time to be kind and not practice profanity, it would be appreciated. Thanks for posting!
Not bad TB, not bad at all.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nylon12. If I could use the darn phone camera thingy effectively, they would probably be even better.

Thanks Hobo! I can never time them right, so I just start shooting and hope for the best.
DeleteYes, I can imagine the late Summer ones are a lot less desirable.
