Nice Haiku! Cute pets! I'll bet they watch each other warily all day long.
We had a most adorable American Guinea Pig with a mohawk on his head and down his back. He would run around with excitement and exclamations of joy whenever we opened the fridge because that was where the crunchy juicy vegetables came from. He was very alert, almost like a little dog in his cage. We didn't have to close his door. He would perch at the doorway looking for us if he wanted a snack. We loved him very much and still miss his antics so many years after his passing. It is sad that the little critters don't live longer.

    1. W - We had guinea pigs for at least 10 years. They are delightful little creatures - and as you point out, very food motivated.

  2. I have a distinct memory as a young boy of seeing a blob of something slowly coming up the gravel road and kicking up a bit of dust. I had to watch it for awhile before it got close enough to see it was one of our outdoor cats dragging a dead rabbit towards the farm. I'm not sure how it got the rabbit but I always assumed it was either sick or dead before the cat got there.

    1. Ed, it is possible the rabbit was sick or dead. Also possible the cat flat-out caught it; I often forget (as ours have been indoors for years) that they are very effective predators.

    1. They can, Becki. Although this was a bit of a one-off; they are not always this settled.
