2025 Cambodia And Vietnam: Singapore Airport (IV)

The Rain Vortex is one of the best known features of the Singapore Airport. It is located in the Jewel Changi portion, which is mixed use entertainment and retail area.  One can take the train around it (without leaving the airport) or exit the airport and walk to it.

The sounds of outside:

A very cool motion sculpture:

  1. Who knew an airport could be a tourist destination in and of itself!

    1. Ed, it is very much billed as such.

Honestly, that seems to be a trend. New Home 2.0 airport is also becoming something of a stopover destination.

Not exactly soothing sounds from that Rain Vortex, depends on the intensity of the rainfall eh? Now that "outside" sound is something that Hollywood hasn't overused yet TB and that motion sculpture is engaging.

    1. Nylon12, the water feature was definitely unique in my experience. And the sounds - tropical sounds that sound like the tropics. Who knew?

The airport was filled with little gems like the motion sculpture. It was really a neat place to spend part of one's day.

  4. So much prettier than any airport I've flown in across this globe.

    Only Dubai is even close.

    1. Michael, I think it is by far the nicest airport I have been in (to be fair, I have a limited number to compare it against).

  5. It's impressive how much creative thought and design went into this airport. Too bad we don't take the same care with all things.

    1. Leigh, it certainly shows the possibilities of what could be done, if people put their mind (and money) to it.

I was flying from coast to coast for 19 years. At no time in all those airport was much spent on touching our senses. It was take off, land, shoo, go away.
