Two more views of Mystras.
The first, looking down from the fortress. The view is of the Eurotas Valley; below you can see the small town of Mystras and the town of Sparti.
Quite the elevation that fortress had, mem had to defend themselves from men for how long now? We both know the answer unfortunately.
The Despotate surrendered without a battle in 1460 AD, having outlasted Constantinople by 7 years.As Sarge is often fond of quoting, only the dead have seen the end of war.
Oh yes, the videos help put things in perspective. The church is especially interesting.
Leigh, the video to my mind really demonstrates what a commanding position the citadel and indeed Mystras had.
