Friends, after flying halfway across the country, a total of 18 hours driving, walking around 23 miles with a descent of 8500' (and the corresponding 8500' ascent) 5 blisters and a ripped toenail (ironically not injured on the hike but the day after by slamming into a furniture leg), I have returned more or less intact. With something like 400 pictures and a great deal to think about, a full accounting will have to wait (inevitably pushing into the Travel in Cambodia and Vietnam series with yet another travel series).
But the Canyon, as always, did not disappoint.
Ah......photos...photos of the..... OUTDOORS! No man-made stuff anywhere TB. Brilliant! Smashing! Uh........good thing no furniture was in the Grand Canyon.........:)

DeleteDeer Creek Falls! I did an overland hike from Thunder Springs Falls, through Surprise Valley that came out right at the top of Deer Creek falls. The slot canyon it forms before the falls is so beautiful. Can’t wait to hear the stories!
ReplyDeleteEd - You are correct sir! We did a loop from Surprise Valley to Thunder Falls to Deer Creek (including the Falls) and then back up to Surprise Valley. We camped two nights on Deer Creek.
