The FortyFive 5000

 HAL:  WAKE UP!

Me, rubbing eyes: HAL?  Really? I am not even truly awake yet.  I have not even had coffee yet...

HAL:  WE HIT IT!

Me:  We?  Hit what?  What time is it?

HAL:  5000 POSTS!

Me:  What the...hang on....Well, look at that. It really is 5000 posts.

HAL:  WE HAVE HIT A MILESTONE!

Me:  I keep questioning this use of the word "we".  I am pretty sure I have been responsible for most of the posts...

HAL:  I HELPED!

Me:  Question:  Does everything have to have an exclamation point after it?

HAL: !!!YES!!!IS THIS BETTER??!!!!

Me:  This reminds me of my days on an Apple IIe.  I am headed back to bed. You, you do whatever it is you do between every 1,000 posts.

HAL:  5001!  5002!  5003!

Congrats TB! Well, that's enough exclamation points for this day. A lot of thought, work and maybe sore fingers over the years, thanks TB.

    1. Thanks Nylon12!

Yes, I may have used my allocation for the next 3.25 years (or whatever it takes to hit 6,000).

    1. Michael, the fact that people continue to show up is crazy to me.

HAL has retreated to wherever he seems to go between these periods...

  5. Due to two different blogs and then redacting the history of this one, I'm not sure how many posts I have over all 21 years. It would be an interesting factoid but I would have to manually count them in the word documents that I archive them in and I'm not going to do that. All I can say for certain is in Word format, they take up .5 GB of real estate on my hard drive.

    Congrats TB and Hal!

    1. Thanks Ed. I cannot imagine counting these up if they were not nicely laid out for me by Blogger.

It's all fun and games until you come home one day to the realization that your computer has, in fact, been scampering around the place like an over-excitable dog, chasing its own USB cord in a wide circle and chewing on unattended small objects.
At least it didn't dump its solid state drive all over the floor this time.

    1. Passing Peanut, it is like you cannot leave them at home alone on their own like responsible electronics anymore...

  8. Congrats, TB! Impressive, actually. Looking at your sidebar, I see you've been steadily prolific since 2008.

Yes, I would have to go back and figure out what "turned the crank" in 2008. Regardless of what it was, I am grateful it got turned.

Comments are welcome (and necessary, for good conversation). If you could take the time to be kind and not practice profanity, it would be appreciated. Thanks for posting!
