2023 Kick Off Hike

A short note only, friends:  this is literally the last thing I do before I crawl off to bed.

I survived the first hike of 2023:  3 days, 16 hours hiking, 38 miles total, elevation gain 12,000 some odd feet. Top distance day: Day 2, 19.85 miles.   Pack weight:  ~ 25 lbs.  I have a great many pictures to sort through (I feel this is all I do on hikes, almost to the exclusion of actually keep up with the hike).  Here are few to whet your appetite.

    1. I think it was, Ed. Having never hiked here this early, I had no idea what to expect. Beautiful either way.

  2. Are these proper hikes, TB? Or just day trips?

    1. Nylon12, this was literally the last thing I did before bed (and even with that, I still managed to publish late).

    1. Michael, I certainly slept less interruptedly - but woke up when I always do, of course, even though I am "on vacation"...

  7. Wow, what a beautiful spot to hike! I love how much hiking you're doing! My biggest hike was in Quebec in the Appalachians. It was a 15 km hike (round trip) and took me almost 8 hours. I was so tired after that but it was exhilarating!!

    1. Rain, I think the main day of the hike - Saturday - at 19.85 miles/31.94 km - may have been the farthest day I have ever hiked. It took about 9 hours, but was a lot of ascent and some off trail work.

The views are stellar. I keep reminding myself that the only way to see them is to go there.
