    1. Ed, I need to re-read Dostoevsky. I have read most of his works but keep coming across quotes which I simply do not recall. His observations of human nature seem perspicacious.

    2. I love this quote, but I'm not sure he actually said it. That might account for your not being able to remember it.

Here's a quote I read in my paper today that I though was good: “Common sense is a flower that doesn’t grow in every garden.”

    3. Kelly, he may not have. Interestingly, this sort of led me down another path today, of Ancient History quotes that no-one ever actually said.

Indeed, common sense is not that common.

  3. Poland and Hungary seem to be the only Nations or People who have had enough of "tolerance". They are a shining light on our dark world.

I have no problems with bridges as long as those who use them, use them twice.

    Good fences make good neighbors.

    1. Just So, It is interesting to me that there are other places in the world that are starting to look at what Western Culture and cultural values have to offer, and are starting to say "No thank you".

One sermon, our pastor brought up parts of Africa where the belief in the spiritual word's existence is quite strong. The response - even now, I suppose - is "We welcome your technology, but we do not welcome your scientism. For us, the world remains full of spirits."

The longer this goes, my suspicion is that that Western Culture and values - at least as currently construed - will have less and less to offer people.

Comments are welcome (and necessary, for good conversation). If you could take the time to be kind and not practice profanity, it would be appreciated. Thanks for posting!
