As I was walking, I suddenly was struck by the sounds - I take them for granted when I am here. "Hey", I thought, "I can take a video and share them":
I found the hawk that you hear high in a tree (Apologies, this was the best I could do. He is that yellow blob):
In the middle of the pack, there is a picture of a post setting on some sort of metal base with a box on top. Can't come up with a reasonable explanation for what it might be?
ReplyDeleteEd, that is a pump box over a well head. There are a number of them set around the property. At one time I believe this may have been irrigated, although that was long before my time. We do have a couple (lower down in the field) that are used for water troughs only.

Glen, there are not really any standing year round water directly on the property. That said, there are reservoirs in the area - mostly trout, catfish, and sunfish (Blue Gill).
DeleteMy father never really let anyone hunt on the property (the son of The Cattlemen took a couple of turkey by bow once or twice). There are deer and turkey (obviously). We are not too far from national forests and there is a deer and turkey season that I know of.
