Ranch Walk June 2021: Wild Flowers Edition

Yesterday morning I took a walk out to the main road and back, approximately 1.5 miles.  Along the way I counted 15 different kinds of wildflowers.  And I was not trying especially hard to find them.

It will be dry all too soon, but they sure are lovely while they last.

  1. I am reminded of my trip paddling a wooden dory boat down the Grand Canyon many years ago. I came home and found hundreds of the pictures I took were of cactus wildflowers and many many were duplicates taken of a more beautiful version than the last. I'm sure people flipping through them later thought I was probably a secret florist.

    1. Ed, I forget about the variety we have here. New Home has flowers just as beautiful, but we seem to lack the variety.

Sometimes just a different angle on the same flower makes a difference.

  2. Flowers seem like beautiful symbols of hope and faith. Hope and faith in the continuation of life. That's something to hold on to in troubled times.

    1. Indeed Leigh. Sometimes a good reminder that in spite of all that is going on around us, the world continues on in the absence of us.

"Behold the lilies. They neither toil nor spin, but I tell you Solomon in his glory was not arrayed like these". (Matthew 6:28-29 (sort of, from memory))

  3. There is beauty in the wild, if we only pay attention.

    Nice start to a Monday!

  4. It's amazing how much we see when we just open our eyes! I bet the bees like all those wildflowers, too.

    1. Kelly, the day is full with the hum of wings. "If only I had bees" was a thought that occurred something like 1,000 times on my walk...

Comments are welcome (and necessary, for good conversation). If you could take the time to be kind and not practice profanity, it would be appreciated. Thanks for posting!
