Today I planted.
I went nuts. I planted two kinds of onions, four kinds of beans, 2 kinds of peppers, and wheat, barley, and rye. I have no idea if any of them will grow.
That is okay, of course. There is nothing wrong with trying.
The soil was remarkably friable. The rabbit droppings and composed wood pellets are working out well. I just need more of them (if necessary, I can "borrow" some from the rabbit shelter).
That is it. We are going full bore this year. NewMantra: Garden or Die.
Perhaps "If at first you don't succeed, try try again", would be a little less... dire? :)
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely off to an enthusiastic start!
ReplyDeleteLinda, I think version sounds more...well, you know, rambunctious. Because planting seeds and watching them grow could be considered a bit odd....
ReplyDeleteLeigh, I am coming out swinging and going down hard this year...
ReplyDeleteBumper crops to you, TB!!!!
ReplyDeleteNot at all, TB. Every farmer of any size, every gardener, they all do the same thing. :)
ReplyDeleteOf course I wish you much luck and joy. :)
Me also, I am feeling the urge to plant things as well. Something about watching things grow, and fighting the fight when it comes to looking after and protecting those little seedlings/ plants. And then there is the harvest....nothing like picking what you have helped the plant to produce, and I always leave some produce on the plant so it can continue on with its own cycle of life.
ReplyDeleteHope your plantings do well, ......
Thanks Glen! Here is hoping.
ReplyDeleteWe do, Linda. I would like it better if I had more success, of course - but that will not keep me from trying!
ReplyDeleteVera, there is just something magical about gardening, about working with the soil and watching plants grow and produce and (at least in my case, occasionally) enjoying the product that you and the plant have produced in concert that I have never been able to explain to someone that does not do it. Yes, I can buy it in the store for cheaper and less effort, but that is not really the point.
