Meet Poppy

So the TB household has a new inhabitant.  Meet Poppy:

She is a Labrador and Australian Shepherd Mix (so far as we know), a rescue puppy from our local shelter.  They estimate she will grow to 40 lbs (18 kilos):

She is a puppy so she likes to sleep - and chew - a lot:

We are very happy she is here.

  1. She is a real cutie!
We have a kitten (rescue) who thinks she is a dog. She chews on things, and will chase little foam balls in the house and bring them back for us to toss again. I didn't believe hubby when he first told me.
All our animals throughout our marriage have been shelter or rescue animals. Only way to go.
    Enjoy your new family member!

    1. Thanks Linda. If we can survive the chewing phase I am sure all will be well...

    2. Have you gotten her chew toys? One thing that works with our kitten, is a dog treat called Cod Twists that we picked up at Pet Smart. She likes them best when they are fresh, but it does give her another option for chewing. That, and keeping all paper away from her. She will definitely chew on that. Even if it is important!

      And yes, good luck. ^_^

    3. Oh, we have a bevy of chew toys Linda. Unforunately they seem to be not as interesting as chewing on general household items - or us.

  2. just wonderful. and lovely. it means so much to a rescue to find a home. we have 4 but they are cats and a whole 'nuther creature to learn from. your Poppy is gorgeous. and she will make you take her on walks daily and you will find your 'ME" time with her.

on behalf of all rescued animals out there - i thank you TB! i can't wait to hear more about her daily doings...she looks like once she settles in - she's gonna be a handful and a half - bahahahahah!

sending much love, as always! your friend,
    kymber

    1. Thank you Miss Kymber. Almost all of our animals have been rescues, certainly all the cats and dogs (and the mighty Ibun, of course). I will say that that they always seem so grateful.

I am looking forward to walks again - right now we are still on a backyard only regime until we finish her vaccinations (Parvo is an issue here and can live for a year outside of a host. I had no idea).

She is already a handful and a half. She has figured out how to go over a 1.5 meter obstacle (and around and under it), how to get up on furniture, where the rabbits live and how tasty rabbit poop apparently is. I tremble.

      Much love, TB

Comments are welcome (and necessary, for good conversation). If you could take the time to be kind and not practice profanity, it would be appreciated. Thanks for posting!
