Meet iBun

Meet iBun:

He came to live with us about three weeks ago from the Rabbit Shelter I volunteer at.  He is a Dutch (sort of similar to Belted Galloways or Dutch Belted).

Why is he called iBun?  Because he only has one eye (his left one).  The right one is gone - from what the veterinarian said, it happened because of a trauma when he was young.  He certainly gets around well enough without it.

In a lot of ways he seems more like a cat: he is quite content to sit on your lap and get attention or even sit above you on the top of the chair to get a bird's eye view of the situation.

We were sorry to have Bella leave; we are grateful that iBun was able to come live with us.

  1. Is ibun house trained? I do love rabbits, had them as a child, often think of having another one for a pet.

    1. Hi Joy! No, he is not house trained as such. He lives in a cage and does have a litter box, which he uses (a trick is to put the hay in the litter box - rabbits use the facilities while they are eating). They do have control of urination in particular (i.e. they can choose when and where they do) so the it is possible. We let him run around the house supervised and so far no serious issues.

Rabbits are wonderful pets. They are quiet, easily cared for, have personality, and don't smell that much (unlike cat litter boxes). If you are thinking about getting one, I would see if there is a rescue organization in your area like the one I volunteer at (rabbits are the third most abandoned pet after dogs and cats). They will know the rabbits in their care and can find you one that will meet your personality.

Thanks for stopping by! - TB

Comments are welcome (and necessary, for good conversation). If you could take the time to be kind and not practice profanity, it would be appreciated. Thanks for posting!
