We are all of a similar age bracket I think. I've spent most of my time reading about the Pacific theater mostly because I had a close relative that fought there and I married someone from an island with lots of U.S. World War II history. I've read many books on the holocaust and prison camps but not much on the general war perspective on the European continent. It has been on my list to find a book or two to fill that void.

On a totally different war, many years ago I read a great book called, "We Were Soldiers Once and Young" on the Ia Drang battles of Vietnam. I went on to read another good book called "The Sacred Willow" and pretty much stopped at that point, satisfied. But just a couple days ago, I found the sequel to the first one in my to-be-read-pile called "We Are Soldiers Still". It took me back again and reawakened my thirst for more knowledge so I might have find another broader book on that war too.Edhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13214319366049620074noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14404262.post-17861844784077283062021-05-25T06:12:16.256-07:002021-05-25T06:12:16.256-07:00We were of a like mind STxAR! I scoured the local library for them and vainly tried to convince my parents to buy them.

I did not read The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich until much later, but that might have been for the better. "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" was a bit of a slog for a sixth grader, but I made it. I really like nonfiction, but there have been a few fiction accounts of WW2 that I can handle. "You Tell My Son" was a waste. "Thank you for your book, I will waste no time reading it." I wish....
