Possibly it was used then (there is no trace of that cabin). As far as I know, they built the house they lived in (now lived in by my aunt and uncle) and the spring was only every used for swimming in by my parent's generation and watering livestock.Toirdhealbheach Beucailhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14872794169534403463noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14404262.post-4599427485983768662023-01-24T06:52:39.238-08:002023-01-24T06:52:39.238-08:00Did your parents or great Uncle and Aunt every use...Did your parents or great Uncle and Aunt every use the springhouse? I see the remains of a lot of springhouses during my hikes in Arkansas and they were probably still used well up until post World War II.Edhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13214319366049620074noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14404262.post-36197300937880381272023-01-24T06:05:47.088-08:002023-01-24T06:05:47.088-08:00You are welcome and yes, hopeful that it stays pea...You are welcome and yes, hopeful that it stays peaceful for many years - at least as long as I have a say, it will.

The Cowboy supplements with hay in the Winter. Once upon a time my Great Uncle grew hay up here when he had cattle, but it has never really been something we revisited. If we wanted to to that, it would have to be dryland farming.Toirdhealbheach Beucailhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14872794169534403463noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14404262.post-40125762818705522012023-01-24T06:04:21.467-08:002023-01-24T06:04:21.467-08:00Leigh, the water capture was completely accidental...Leigh, the water capture was completely accidental but even the Cowboy commented on the unlooked for benefit of it. Farther down the stream - on my Uncle's property - there is an old retention dam and pond. Rainy seasons keep us from gardening, but it's so helpful when the water can be captured and has time to soak in and saturate the ground.Leighhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02435811789823712254noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14404262.post-39463972756810782902023-01-24T02:18:42.056-08:002023-01-24T02:18:42.056-08:00Thanks for the pictures of your ranch. A good thing, as the pair of cows and donkey were doing a good job of keeping growth down, causing us feed them supplemental hay. They much prefer natural growth anyway.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
